Anyone have any suggestions for optimal h.264 settings for a purchasable downloadable video? The final video will be played back on a Mac or PC. Yes, the client will have an option of QT, WMV, or Mpeg-1. I am always amazed at how beautiful the movie trailers are on Apple’s site. Wondering if I can get close to the same results.

    Thanks,
    Brian

It’s probably a good ideal to base your settings on something close to the trailers on Apple’s site in terms of datatrate and so on (although I’ve found you can usually get away with dropping the datatrates somewhat), however you’re very unlikely to get close to the quality they offer. Apple has access to the very highest quality source material available.

It would be impossible to give you optimal settings here as so much depends on what your source is (format, content and so on).

    Good Luck.
