  icon corruption is my mac about to crash out?

  Hey there

  having an intermitent issue where the icons in the finder window are becoming corrupted and in some cases flickering…often i will open the finder and all the icons will be plain white doc icons as opposed to the application speific icons eg FCP, QT etc…

  there are also other icons which i have never seen before….is this a warning that impending doom is about to befall my mac?

  what is the best way to reinstall the os without wiping all the info from my machine?
