After using ae 7 I must concluded that it is such a stink pile of poo that it blows my mind as to what Adobe was thinking…I really cant stand it…it takes all the fun out of using the program and now it is a chore…wow! It takes great skill to turn a masterful software program and recode it into pure doodoo….
    .
There is NOTHING in ae 7 that is compelling to use…and the fact that the curves are separate from the timeline is insane. plus resizing of windows is a joke…..please tell me that ae 7.5 will make it all better. Cause this software nightmare needs to end….by far the WORST upgrade ever….and I have seen them all.. what is your take….

Well, you could just undock all of the windows.

It’s not perfect, but better than what came before.

    I’m having fun.

Couldn’t disagree more. AE 7 is much easier to use, is a more workable interface and is definitely a step forward. And this was driven home to me very solidly recently when I freelanced for a company that only had 6.5 on it’s graphics stations and I had no choice but to work with their equipment.

I can’t see how anyone would feel that 7 is a BAD thing. Nothing important or worthwhile from 6.5 has changed significantly and there have been great improvements as far as usability of the interface.

AE 7 is so much better. I also had to go back to 6.5 recently and it felt like I was wasting my time rearranging windows and navigating.

I love it. Solid as a rock for me.

It sounds like you need to read Angie Taylor’s AE7 book, watch the AE Podcast, and/or do a mess of the latest tutorials in the library to help get your mind wrapped around it. Most all the people I know who work with it, love it. Of the ones I know who don’t, it seems to come down to two things: either they want to try to impose the rules and mores of past versions on it; or, they simply are befuddled by the changes and have yet to get their mind wrapped around it.

Sure, there are a few things that were sacrificed in the switch but most seem to agree that the added benefits outweigh the losses.

    Your mileage may vary,
