    We bid on a project where people and the environment were going to have to be frozen over. The FX company decided the best way was tp paint the ice effect in and animate it appearing over time. So it’s basically down to paint skills ut onto layers.

    Not sure if it’s the kind of look you’d be going for, but for ground ice, you could shoot some scratchy ice at a hockey or skating rink and use a blending mode to composite it.
