Your storage will also play a big role in this, as well as what footage you will typically be cutting. A m’board by itself is just not enough to give you any really significant feedback.

I guess it supports only one SSD, should I boot OS in it or used the ssd as scratch disk?

Until a few months ago, I was still using the i7-2600 processor with Premiere CC. I could edit HD easily, like AVCHD or ProRes. I could also cut Sony 4K XAVC-S footage, surprisingly! Of course adding any effects would then slow that down right away, but I could play it well enough. I had a GTX 470 display card, system was over 5 years old.

SSD is good for boot, and use 7200rpm SATA drives for storage, as they provide large capacity and low price. If you can add TWO of those drives, and configure as RAID 0 (stripe set in Windows) this will double the performance. If your system has USB 3.0, you could look at external storage. There are desktop drives (and RAIDs) meant for video editing, such as those from G-Tech, Glyph, and LaCie. The benefit of external is ease of moving to new system, just plug it in!

Using an I7 2630QM processor with CS6… Dell XPS 702x laptop. Very happy with the results… compared to dual Core laptop that preceded it…. which even with Ram and CPU upgrade was very tired… Home/Hobby use here –1080i is max resolution.
P.S. Though I’m not a fan of this… I did edit the GeForce 555M into Cuda list, and I was very much impressed with the results… Have not (Yet) been able to break it!!! :)!
