I was approached very recently by a a guy who’s shooting and editing interviews for a show which will start in January. If I still was using Color I’d turn this one down.. The need for speedy delivery is gold.

He told me that he was hoping rendering wouldn’t take too long since it’s a tight schedule. Delivery is PAL 16:9 IMX50. I brought in a test sequence as PAL 16:9 Prores 422, did some adjustments with 2-8 nodes and rendered back to Prores 422. 100-130fps!! And conversion from Prores422 to IMX was only 10-15 seconds for a 2 minute sequence.

All in all, there’s about a total of 60 minutes edited video. This job is gonna be so fun!!

Mac Pro 2009 with original setup; 2.26GHz, 6GB RAM and GT120.
Along with this I have the GTX285, Decklink HD Extreme 3D, RocketRAID eSATA controller card.
One internal drive for OS X and a set of four disks in RAID0 for work, and two disks in RAID1 for backup. It’s not an impressive setup – but it gets the job done until I can build a RAID5.
