[Mick Haensler] “I put on a pair of tattered shorts when I got up and that’s as far as it got.”

Well, I’ll admit that the vast majority of my 124890 posts here on The Cow were probably written while I was in nothing but my boxers and tee shirt, but when clients are around or when I freelance for others, I always make certain I’m ready to work, dressed for work, and look the part. Does that mean I wear a suit? Heck no, but there’s no one who ever has to wonder what I came in to do or why I’m picking up a paycheck when I’m done.

[Nick Griffin] “And frankly, David, I’ve read LOTS of things of yours which are much better written. “

Thanks for the compliment Nick, but I have to say, I like what that dude wrote, and it’s certainly a good code to live and work by here in Hollywoodland.

And hey, we’re still the trendsetters baby, and don’t you ever forget it. Heck, don’t any of you guys watch Entourage?

Glad my article spawned some discussion, albeit prêt-à-porter based 😉

I’m sure nothing is “new”, but frankly, I had never seen a list, other than my common sense to interns, or vague one-offs years ago in college. However, if any of you were the originators of aid “rules” – then thanks, obviously I heard of them somehow!

Welcome to The Cow Michael! Glad to have another local guy here to keep this place honest. It’s a tough crowd, and clearly few fashionistas, but I think you’ll find this place to be a good source of information and inspiration. I hope you’ll come back often and join in.

[Mick Haensler] “I put on a pair of tattered shorts when I got up and that’s as far as it got. Now, I had no appointments and the only person seeing me was my wife but dang that was fun!!”

Might be just a bit too much information….. LOL! As long as you’re having fun, that’s all that matters.

    Thanks for the welcome.

Been signed-up for a while – was in Chicago until 2008 doing “what I do”, but really only used to Cow for research than sharing – I have my blog – not to mention my employeer – to keep me busy dispensing information – tongue in cheek humor AND tech related!

Speaking of the admonition to “turn your cellphone off,” has anyone else noticed the “new rudeness” of texting? There’s something about receiving a text that changes the dynamic.

I’m not talking only about crew members, but people in general, at work and at play. Including me!!!

Many people will apologize if they have to interrupt a social interaction to TALK on the cellphone. But those same individuals will happily receive and send texts without any word of explanation, standing there, still nominally part of the conversation (albeit distractedly) yet texting away madly. It’s as if the non-verbal nature of texting makes them believe that they can be in two mental places at once. As I said before – I do it too.

I wish there were a way that cellphones/PDAs could signal “true emergency” as opposed to “yet another text/call.” As it is now, many people who will allow voicemail to pick up a cellphone call will immediately check every text that arrives. (yeah… and I do it too.)
