i NEED to recover this autosave file!
Hello, all. ive been working on this video for about 7 hours straight now, and i was on the last clip. i saved it the clip before that, but when i went to play it to see how the last clip fit, vegas froze. no big deal, i saved it. i should include that when i was halfway done with the video, vegas froze and crashed, but i had forgotten to save recently before that. when i opened vegas again, it asked me if i would like to open the recovered autosave file, or the regular saved file. so obviously, i chose the autosave file so i didnt have to edit a lot of the video over again. so as i set on my journey of completing the video, i kept saving frequently. now, back to when vegas froze on the last clip. i saved it, so no sweat, i can just open it again and put the last clip in again. when i opened vegas again after it crashed, it asked me if i would like to open a recovered autosave file. i said no because i could just load what i thought was the original saved file. so as i went back and loaded the original saved file, when it finished loading, it was only half of the video, from when it crashed the 1st time. my question is: WHERE DID MY AUTOSAVE FILE GO, of the whole video!? i really dont want to spend another 5 hours to finish this video! i’m very sorry if this was hard to follow, just please bare with me.

You might be able to try this
This will be the same for Windows 7 and Vista
Go to the folder
C:\Users\
\AppData\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\9.0 They might be in there – on XP – it will be under Document And Settings / user name / app data etc etc

Slight ammendment to my earlier post
Check the TEMPORARY FILES FOLDER setting – under Options / Preferences / General – they should be in that location
By default it will be the folder I indicated above

You are a lifesaver. I had the same problem. I was working on this video for about 3 hours, when my computer decided to crash. I was able to get it back, and then after it crashed one more time, it wouldn’t offer the autosave. I followed your instructions and got it back. I just wanted to say that you’re awesome, and that you saved me so much work tonight. If you didn’t REALLY help me out tonight, I wouldn’t be writing this, but I made an account just so I can tell you how amazing you are for telling me how to recover it. Thank you so much!

Get into the habit of saving incrementally named versions of your project, such as project01, project02…
The project files are tiny compared to any media files so you can afford to have lots of copies – just make sure you name them sensibly and you’ll have to opportunity to “roll back” to any stage of your project editing, and there’s less chance you’ll lose many hours work because 1 file has been lost/corrupted.
