Hello everyone, I’m looking for the BEST complete tutorial to buy for beginers that need to learn all of the platforms, layers, buttons, importing, simple animated text, ext……. everything having to do with working in AE. I have five years exp. w/ editing in fcp but no time in AE. Please let me know if you have in recommendations for my problem, I would really appreciate it. Thanks Bobby

Adobe’s Classroom In A Book series, I found, was a great way to learn the more basic points of AE. Its essentially a guidebook for a large project whose main components are spread across individual chapters (or lessons). It comes with all of the footage needed to complete the lessons and is a great way to learn through immersion.

Click on the banner at the top. There is more than enough here at creative cow to get started full swing.

You might start with the after effects 101 tutorial as an introduction.

    good luck,

Andrew’s AE 101 is an excellent crash course, click on his head, scroll down to get there.

Although slightly dated (but holds up well) try this from the Editor’s Guild:

then come back to the Cow, so many excellent tuts, and the pace and quality is only getting better.

Just yesterday I took a look at this:

    https://www.creativecow.net/articles/kramer_andrew/colorkey/index.htm

Check it out and see how you like it. I’m planning to pick up a copy for myself soon.

I’ve had AE for quite some time but have only used it for basic work. Partly because I hadn’t had the time to sit down and get to fully understand the tools. Now I’m looking at doing more sophisticated jobs and need to know a whole lot more.

For someone like me, tutorials like this get a lot more across than a textbook with a few pictures.
