The general consensus is that AMD Radeon cards are better for accelerating timeline playback than NVIDA cards. Something like an AMD Radeon R9 290x would probably help. Buy it from someplace that accepts returns if it doesn’t. 😉

Before you throw money at the “problem” ($350-380 is what John recommends), you can check to see if all the settings are correct and if the card is actually used during preview.
To see the actual GPU utilization, I recommend the free GPU-Z software.

I don’t think I was clear. NVIDIA cards do not work as well at timeline acceleration as AMD cards do. This is because NVIDIA uses CUDA and Vegas Pro uses OpenCL and AMD uses OpenCL too. So an NVIDIA card is not going to perform as well as a comparable AMD card for timeline playback with Vegas Pro because it’s OpenCL implementation is not as good as AMD’s OpenCL.

That’s the wrong link. You’re supposed to paste the link that you get after the upload:

nVidia cards have OpenCL compatibility too… I even posted somewhere a link to a OpenCL benchmark that had various cards tested.

But without looking into his actual GPU usage, is just throwing money away, hoping to be lucky…

Since it is a Fermi generation nVidia, it will work better with MainConcept CUDA encoder (rendering). Newer cards are not supported.
However, the timeline acceleration might be better with the 750Ti.

Do you have slots to keep both of them in the system? Because you can select what to use for timeline and what for rendering.

[Sorin Nicu] “nVidia cards have OpenCL compatibility too…”

That’s what I said. Here is my exact quote:

NVIDIA card is not going to perform as well as a comparable AMD card for timeline playback with Vegas Pro because it’s OpenCL implementation is not as good as AMD’s OpenCL.

The words “ it’s OpenCL implementation is not as good as AMD’s OpenCL” implied that while NVIDIA does have OpenCL support… it’s not as good as AMD’s. Sorry if it was confusing. The second “it’s” refers to “NVIDIA’s”.

    thnx for your feed back

but actual in svp 12 there is no setting for gpr optimization

    https://i1.creativecow.net/u-upload.php

so every time i have to off my gpu acceleration while working on timeline

if i select my card there the preview very lag…

and about amd i told u i try amd radion saphire 7x 865. and hd 7500

    but they are very worse

i am using vegas pro suit build 394 latest update

so i heard veags pro 13 has updation with new nvidia cards. so i download trial vegas pro 13

in this i found that tab ” optimziation” for graphic card.

but its previeiw also lagging but not very much. but its lagging while i add effects. without effects its run smooth.

    so i should follow.
    upgrade my nvidia
or if amd . which card amd will support vegas pro suit 12?

    Regards
    harry
