  • I need help with HDV deck and FCP

I am using a Sony HDV (HVR-M10U) deck and it is hooked up to FCP. I have hooked it up in the past and would just adjust the sequence/timeline/capture/deck settings to accompany the time of project I was conducting.

Recently I unhooked the deck from my computer and when I rehooked it up it started being difficult. As of now it will not play back ANYTHING in the viewer or timeline. When I go to the A/V settings it claims that the Video Playback is: [Missing] Apple FireWire NTSC (720×480)…

That happens when I am just trying to edit normal DV and it won’t even register when I try to edit HDV. I really need help figuring out what is wrong. I’m not sure what to do with the settings to fix this issue and it’s highly frustrating. I have tried everything from replacing the connection cable to going through the settings on the decks menu to FCP’s settings. PLEASE HELP ASAP!

    Best,
    Grant

I have the same problem with Sony’s HVR_ZIU camcorder. I can find settings in Audio/Video Settings that allow capture from the camera but playback output only allows None.

I will let you know when I find a solution.
