I have been trying to find an external or internal hard drive for my dual 1.8 g5 mac.

    i am overwhelmed.

seems like no matter what drive i pick, there a lots of reviews that are negative saying that they will die.

i looked at the seagate freeagent pro, western digital my book premium for EXTERNAL/

i looked at seagate barracuda for INTERNAL.

i see all these reviews saying each of them die.

can someone help me find a reliable internal or external drive for my computer? leaning toward internal. I want a 320gb drive.

    thanks.

Eventually all hard drives will fail. I have a stack of hard drives that have died over the years. I also have a larger stack of hard drives that are working fine now.

For your G5 and external, Frys has a 500GB Maxtor SATA or PATA HD for $95. Get a few of them.

First off you need to remember that you will always find more bad user comments on line then good ones. WHY, because it is the bad experiences that upset people. I mean come on have you ever called a companies tech support because everything was great and you just wanted to let them know that. Of course not.

As long as the drive is of a recognizable brand has a decent amount of cash and has a good RPM speed you will probably be fine.

ANY drive can fail. ANY brand, ANY, size, internal and external. Just like ANY car can break down, ANY drive can fail.

Worrying like you are is pointless.

    Unless you don’t back up.

all harddrives die. Some sooner than others depending on how they are used and cared for.

I would not use a My Book to edit with. Look at LaCie, WiebeTech and the GDrives for external.

    Internal, Western Digital and Hitatchi.

I like to read the reviews at http://www.storagereview.com , and then look for a deal on drives that have the strengths I need.
