I’ve searched everywhere and have had no luck. I found one that was made with an earlier version of the program that showed how to add a sound effector, then use XPresso. I was able to follow as he added the sound box to the XPresso window, then the sample box, yet when he went to poses he lost me due to different functions our programs had.

If I need another program to add the lip syncing to my characters first then bring them into C4D, please guide me to an inexpensive or free on that works with C4D. I’m using 2023.1.3 I think.

Thank you so much, I love this program yet really need to be able to add voices to characters I import.

    Hi Michael,

Do you mind sharing a link to the video you were using for the lip syncing? That would help me understand your setup.

Lip sync is always done by importing your sound to the timeline and animating the facial controllers to the sound but it seems you are trying to use an automated process.

I may have found one that will help me, so I will mark this as solved if possible. The tutorial I will try is found here for those who may need one like it… Tip – 308: How to transfer mocap data from the Content Browser over to a character in Cinema 4D – Bing video

    Hi Michael,

Thanks for sharing. The link shared is about retargeting of rigs. Using animated rig as source and the no-animation rig as target.

if your rig have facial rig setup, it will be best to import your audio file in cinema 4d, find some phonemes mouth shapes and animate (copy the shapes where necessary to your character) along the timeline with the sound.

I’ve also found Moves by Maxon in the Apple app store for free. If you have an account it’s really neat. You can make a skeleton via different moves and also facial expressions. When I tried the face section of the app I was impressed by the amount of polygons it had. It picks up so well that I might read my scripts while looking into that app via my phone so I have the talking/lip sync done easier.
