I’m about to edit a HDV feature (90 min) and I need a computer. My budget allows me only $2000 and I need help figuring out what I should get. I am not a computer guy so I don’t want to build a machine myself. I will be running Vegas 7 on the new machine. (also looking for monitor recommendations)

    Thanks!

    I got this one:

2 cpu and both dual core. It works good with V7 and HDV. I added my own hard drives. It is on for a good price now, a couple of hundred off. I got the 64 bit operating system with 4gb ram, no problems.

One of the best monitor buys when I bought was the 24″ dell 1900X1200. There are a lot of good LCD deals out there now.

I just finished a feature. I would recommend Magic Bullet and an Nvidia video card. MB utilizes the onboard processors of Nvidia so it renders pretty fast and has some great looks. Check out their “Basic” and “White Diffusion”. For flashbacks they have a good “Bleach Bypass light.”
