  I lost footage and I don’t know why!

  Hello,

  I recorded a show last night with a Canon 5D Mark III. It was my first time working with this camera and all was going well. Today, however, I am looking at footage and one of the files is saved as a .DAT file. It goes

  A23C0423.MOV
  A23C0424.DAT
  A23C0425.MOV

  I don’t know why this one was saved as a .DAT file. I didn’t do anything differently. It contains about 12 minutes of crucial footage. Is it lost forever?

  **Edit: Now that I think about it, I think that I changed batteries right after this time in the shoot. Is there any way to recover it?
