I got the trapcode suite!!!!!!!
Posted by Zygotesoup on April 19, 2007 at 8:50 pmI mentioned the Trapcode Suite to my boss and within a half hour he sent me an order confirmation and I should be getting the key pretty soon! I’m pretty psyched and I’m sure you guys will be hearing a lot of stupid questions from me in the near future. Heres one: with the product key they give you, can you only install it on one computer??? Because I would like to have it at home as well… if not I’ll just have to get him to order me another one 🙂

i don’t know this for sure, but i think that the makers of this trapcode software didn’t put a special seriel key just for fun. the best way to make sure that you can juse the same seriel key is , before the install, unplug your internet kabel (or disable internet connection) mayby that will work. than install the software.
i have the suit myself to, and it’s pretty amazing stuff, well worth it. it’s a lot of fun 🙂

April 20, 2007 at 12:36 pmYou can transfer your Trapcode plugins over to your home addy AFAIK, as long as you’re not using them on both machines at once. I asked Red Giant a little while ago if I could easily move my plugs and serial numbers over to another machine at some point and they said yes, as long as you take them off the old machine. you can’t use both at once…that would require 2 x licences my boy 😉
Likewise with Production studio – Adobe will let you install it on 2 PCs at a time – one for home and one for work, but you may only use one copy at a time. Pulling out your ethernet cable may hide it, but I wouldn’t risk it as they might log IP addresses on install (you NEED the internet plugged in to install, so if they both machines have same IP, like 2 PCs at your workplace for instance) then you *may* get into trouble..

April 20, 2007 at 12:59 pmSo do you have to actually uninstall them or just make sure you’re not using them and unplug the network cable from the one your not using???

April 20, 2007 at 2:24 pmGood point… I’ll contact them to see what they say about it. I appreciate the advice as you obviously know much more about this kind of stuff than I do. And I’m a big fan of your work and all your tutorials/podcasts, since I’ve found this site I’ve learned about 100 times the amount I knew before (which was nothing… but thats not the point). Keep up the good work!

April 20, 2007 at 5:29 pmIf you are not planning on rendering at home, then you could install the trapcdode suite and use it (just don’t run the keys). It will render with the X watermark, but you could always perform a collect files and render at work. This would be perfectly legal as Trapcode offers their demo as a free download. This is, bye the way, a great way for people to learn trapcode’s plugs.
