[Rafael Amador] “On my experience, Compressor never looked at the FC render files”
I’ve made some tests and they keep telling me the same: Compressor never look at the FC’s render files when “Sending to Compressor”.
Two reasons to think like that:
– Time: Compressor takes the same time to make the job (2 passes MPEG-2) whenever the sequence sent is rendered or not. This in a fast computer with a light to render sequence may pass unnoticed.
– FC CPU use: FC keeps working at the same level when is rendering the sequence or “Sending to Compressor” with the sequence fully rendered or not rendered.
If FC would be just reading the render files, it would be taking very little CPU.
FC keeps engaged for the 2 passes as when is rendering the time-line.My test was simple: A short clip with a heavy to render effect (MagicBullet Looks).

Very interesting! Thanks for running the test Rafael. I can’t argue with your conclusions. I probably mis-remembered my facts about my earlier tests.
