I can’t save my coloring! Why?

How did you do the “clean up”? Did you use a registry cleaner or other program? These are very dangerous to use.

I don’t know what you are talking about. Can you use Vegas terminology to explain what it is you are trying to do / save? Are these FX chains? Presets?, ???

Ok sorry but I’m Italian and it’s hard for me to explain that with vegas terminology, let’s try..
I go to Video Track FX
I create the coloring that I want to using with the FX
Then I can save it choosing Save As..
Then I’ve to put the name that I want and then Ok.
But actually sony vegas don’t save it, because when I go to Filter Packages there isn’t the coloring that I have saved..
Instead sometimes it saves the coloring that I made for three or four time but only one of them works (the original I suppose), the other don’t work and they can’t be delete..

OK, now I’m jealous because I’m Italian too but I can’t speak a word of Italian because my parents wouldn’t teach me so that they could talk Italian in front of us kids and we wouldn’t know what they were saying. It probably also had something to do with them wanting us to “assimilate” into the American culture but I still regret never having learned the language. (but I digress…) 😉

That’s what I thought you were doing. These Filter Paclages are what I called “FX Chains”. These are stored in the Windows registry. That’s why I asked how you cleaned up your other applications. If you used a registry cleaner it may have messed this up.

I don’t know if you are comfortable editing the registry but the Filter Packages are kept in the following location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DirectShow\Presets\FX Packages\

If there any software on your PC that would limit access to the registry and prevent Vegas from saving these?

You might want to simply re-install Vegas and see if it re-establishes all of this for you.

The solution (At last): Make sure your account your using on your computer is an administrator, and right click on the sony vegas pro 10 icon, and select run as administrator, to diable this from hapenning, turn off UAC (User Account Control)
