  • I Can’t Reverse an Event in Vegas 10 Anymore, Anyone Know Why?

I submitted the following question to Sony some time ago but heard no reply. I see there are some knowledgeable people on this site who may be able to help me, for which I am very thankful. Here is question:

Hello. I am quite experienced with Vegas video editing. For some reason I can’t anymore reverse (play backward) an event on the timeline. I used to but not anymore. I select an event and right-click and hit ‘reverse’ but nothing happens. No indication of a reverse arrow, nothing. Of course, after this the event plays as it always has (forward and not-reversed). I tried the knowledgebase and could not find anything other than the normal way to reverse an event which simply does not work for me anymore. Do yopu know why the reverse feature won’t work anymore?

Additional info: I used to be able to reverse an event but I cannot remember if this was with my older ver 9, my current ver. 10 or with a trial of pro 10 64-bit I tried a few months ago. Could it be that only the Pro 64-bit version reverses? Due to personal problems, I did not buy pro when it was 50% off and the more recent 30% off offers amount to too much money for me. Vegas is SO expensive but if I have to have pro to reverse an event and I get a great discount, I’d buy it. Will you (Sony) allow me to have 50% off again that I passed up months ago?

If you’re using one of the Movie Studio versions of Vegas, I don’t believe that you can do this.

Actually, Movie Studio has Reverse. I believe he said that it use to work and now it doesn’t. I can’t imagine why it would stop working. I tried a bunch of things to try and get it to stop working but it always works for me.

To those who responded (Mile & John) – Thank you so very much! Let me clarify: I have Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 on a new XPS computer of the very top performance. Having recently gotten this computer, I can not remember if I have ever been able to reverse on the XPS with Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10. I just now checked my old dormant computer with Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 and I can reverse just fine. My problem is why in the world can’t reverse on the XPS – its as though that feature, while not greyed out, simply does NOT work. Weird. It may have never worked on this computer, unfortunately I don;t know. Perhaps if I reinstalled it? Or, I may break down & buy 64-bit pro version which I hear is amazing (and probably won’t give me some memory errors during rendering that I have been getting randomly.

Again, thanks for your help; this webite is great. If you have a response to what I have said here, I will also appreciate it very much.

Sounds like a Factory reset or reinstall maybe needed. Something that DID work and now doesn’t indicates to me a fresh dusted-down Vegas is required.

    Grazie
