When I import a PSD into ae7, all the layer styles are gone on my text layers. Is there a way to import it into AE without resaving each layer as a targa or tiff?

    Hi there

    Try it.
In Photoshop create a new empty layer and merge it to the layer with the styles. Save it and open it in After Effects…
It should work, it does work with any blending effects.

photoshop layer styles have always been a pain to import correctly into after effects, and i still don’t understand why they don’t consistantly. layer styles like glow especially look very different once brought into after effects.

even when you merge an empty layer with the styled layer in photoshop like franktatu said, i sometimes have had issues with it looking differently. try right clicking the style in the layer window in photoshop, and selecting ‘break style into layers’ option (i think thats what its called), and then merging those individual style layers with your original layer, and then that with an empty layer.

    that’s whats worked for me.

Thanks guys, I got it working. I was hoping there was some setting in AE I missed. Oh well, maybe in the next version. Strange that it doesn’t work like that, it works perfectly in premiere.
