I cant figure out how to create this effect in motion, ugh!
Im getting better at motion but for the life of me cant figure this one out. I want to create a star spin type effect off of about 20 circle objects on the canvas. I link their rotation to “rate” and they spin perfectly. But i cant find out how to create a trail that rotates off each object to create the type of effect below

Use particle emitters, with their speed set to zero?
It’s probably possible to do it with replicators too, but I’m not in front of Motion so I couldn’t immediately suggest a way. I’m more familiar with emitters than replicators 😉

I would probably do it with a single circle paint stroke with a write on behavior attached to it. Then make a replicator of it and adjust the scale so that successive circles were larger or smaller than the initial one created. The write on behavior will give you the streak that you’re looking for. No need to bother with emitters or other overly complicated ways to make animated circles/arcs.
