I cannot get my short FCP movie to burn a DVD in IDVD

I edited a short white water rafting movie (26 min) in FCP. Some of the footage was short in HD. It’s all down convereted to DV/DVCPRO in the compressor column.

I exported it as a self contained DV/ DVCPRO Anamorphic Quicktime file.

I DVD will not finish the burn.

The video is 6.7 gigs for how short it is. Ths may be the problem.

Can I make the file size smaller if necessary (not the videos length) or what should I do?

I want a quick CHAPTERED DVD to make copies to send to a few friends.

I really do not have the time to learn DVD Pro and get the compressions choices
and chapters set up just right.

Is there a simple answer for this?

A Standard, single sided DVD-R will hold 4.7 GB (actually about 4.4gb)

So, Export your finished edit using “Current Settings”

Drop that file into compressor and choose a DVD preset that best matches your video. Compress, creating your DVD ready mpeg files.
Import those files into idvd or better yet, DVDSP.

DVDSP is easier than iDVD. A quick look in the Help menu will give you step by step instructions.
All you have to do is drag and drop. Spend 15 minutes and learn it.

Compression has built in presets. Use them.

Certainly COmpressor to DVDSP is best choice. But if you must use iDVD, skip Compressor because iDVD won’t work with MPEG-2. Just bring your QT movie into iDVD.

Ok… I took yours and many others advice. Learn and use compressor and start making DVDS with DDVSP.

So here is where I’m. I finally got my FCP white water rafting movie formatted and filed correctly with chapter markers using compressor.

I imported the asset files into DVDSP. I successfully burned a DVD.
The DVD movie looks and plays great! That was small victory for me.

Now I want to apply the chapters that are already in track one and probably use one of the basic templates to make a functional DVD for the viewers to enjoy.

I cannot find a written or video tutorial that will walk me through the steps so I can finish making my DVD with functional chapters and (Menus?)

So…. do you have any links to any excellent tutorial on the basics, making a chaptered DVD with DVDSP?

I have looked at quite a few that have not helped so far. The project is just one 30-minute video with the chapters already assigned in the VI track. It should be simple right?
