I can *almost* create the effect I’m looking for
I’m looking to recreate an effect which is fairly simple. It’s achieved by moving the colour layers separately. I’ve figured out a method of doing that – duplicating the clip into 4 tracks, using Channel Blend to make the top 3 R, G and B, and then setting them to Screen. Then simply move the tracks and the colours will move independently.
The problem is that while I’ve managed to make some pretty effects with this, I can’t make it look *exactly* as I’d like it to.
So here’s an example of the exact effect I’m trying to recreate: https://www.imagebam.com/image/2d13b8304987909
And here’s the closest I can come: https://www.imagebam.com/image/0af406304987903
As you can see, it’s much more washed out and the colours aren’t as defined. The thing is, though, that no matter the blend mode I have the tracks in (and it doesn’t have to be Screen to work) it ends up washed out like that and, if I turn the brightness down, the shifted colours become more muted, too. Alternatively, turning the brightness down on the bottom layer does nothing. What I’m looking for is to be able to have it come out like the first picture – without the darker colours washing out, but with the shifted rainbow colours being bright and saturated.
I’ve tried about everything I can think of, so it seems like it’s time to ask. If you were looking to achieve the effect in the first picture, how would you go about it?
