Hyperdeck Studio files for tape layoff
Posted by Richard Wirth on March 30, 2012 at 8:44 pmDoes anyone have the specified QT workflow or export settings for creating 10 bit Uncompressed 23.98psf files from FCP 7 for use in the Hyperdeck Studio?
We want to layoff projects created from the Hyperdeck to tape.
Thanks!

March 31, 2012 at 1:47 amFor the projects finished in house, yes, we have no problem running them out through a Kona 3/VTR Exchange or the Avid Hardware.
However occasionally we will act as a service bureau. Folks will bring drives prepared out of house and ask us to output their projects to tape. I want to give them the most expedient directions as to how to export to the drive so we can transfer to an SSD and pop it into the Hyperdeck and the Sony deck be able to see it (thereby saving much time for them and us).

April 2, 2012 at 1:14 amYou will need to install Desktop Video to have the Blackmagic uncompressed 10-bit codec installed on your machine. Grab the latest from here: https://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/ (just select any DeckLink product and skip the register product page)
Once installed, you should now have an assortment of Blackmagic sequence and export settings in FCP7. Export your sequence using the “Blackmagic HDTV 1080p 23.98 – 10-bit” setting which is the native HyperDeck uncompressed 4:2:2 10-bit QuickTime format.

April 2, 2012 at 11:42 pmFinding a minor problem here.
Has anyone else noticed when using Hyperdeck, it will only playback in 23.98p, even if it is recording 23.98psf?
As a result, tape decks don’t want to have anything to do with playback from it.
Or am I missing something?
