hvx200a
Posted by Mary Gerber on December 10, 2010 at 11:54 pmHi all,
I bought, on ebay, what was listed as an hvx200A but the model on the camera is an hvx200P. Did I get duped?
Thanks

December 11, 2010 at 12:46 amHmmm…I think the 200P is the PAL version of that camera. It is sold for less in Europe, and some people then ship them here and sell them here. But they ONLY shoot PAL formats…25fps, 50fps.
If you are in the US…then yes, you might have gotten duped. Check the frame rates it shoots to be sure. I’m not 100% positive, but I know stuff like this happens.

December 11, 2010 at 12:54 amThen it should be fine. My memory might be lagging in the actual camera number.

December 11, 2010 at 12:56 amIt should say A if it is an A, there was a pretty big improvement to the sensor between the 200A and the 200.

December 11, 2010 at 1:00 amI just looked at my producers camera…it is the original HVX-200…the non “A” model. And it says “HVX-200P.” So I think you got the original 200…not the improved one.

December 11, 2010 at 1:04 amSo what do you suggest I do to verify that I may not have been sold the camera that was advertised? Check with Panasonic first and check the serial number?

December 11, 2010 at 1:20 amI’d contact Panasonic and see what they could verify.

December 11, 2010 at 4:39 amPanasonic is normally very clear on the model versions. “A” models have an A, on the box it will say HVX200A, if you have the box. If the camera was listed as an A model I would be contacting the seller right away.

December 11, 2010 at 2:54 pmHe didn’t have the original box. I have contacted the seller and he asked that I send a pic of the model number on the camera. I contacted Panasonic but who knows when they will get back to me.
Thanks
