Does that mean a hvx200a now has more effective pixels than the hpx500 ? or have they upgraded that camera too ?

Personally, I took the “effective 1.1 million pixels” of the hvx200a to simply mean that the camera achieves an effective HD picture (720p) through pixel shifting, just as the hvx200 always has.

The HVX200 claimed an effective 1.1 million pixels, and so does this new one. And so does the HPX500. In other words, resolution hasn’t changed, but it does sound like the 200A’s new CCDs are more sensitive to light/less noisy.
