HVX200 vs Varicam for Green Screen
Posted by Ron Eigen on May 5, 2010 at 12:36 amWondering if anyone can share or point me to examples of keyed footage from Varicam and/or keyed footage from the HVX200 for comparison purposes.
Thanks.

May 5, 2010 at 12:17 pmWe work a lot with both cameras (hvx200, hvx2700 and hvx3000) to do chroma key+compositing work but do not have too many samples on the web. Did you need particular information to compare the cameras?

May 5, 2010 at 7:33 pmI’d use the bigger camera and capture to ProRes or Uncompressed for green screen. You can use the 200, but if you do, I wouldn’t record to P2, but rather capture the component to ProResHQ using a KiPro or ioHD and a laptop. The 200 can be tough to key. The 900 should do you much better.
IMHO,

May 6, 2010 at 2:56 pmLooks good Douglas,
Is that on the HVX200?
If so is that using the cards?
Any other details you can share? -

May 6, 2010 at 3:29 pmYes, I was using the P2s, but I usually use the FS-100 and a Letus adapter with the same results. I usually shoot 720/24pn to card or QuickTime pn on the FS-100. You can see a whole bunch of CKs on that page.
