HVX200 & iMac 10.6.6 – Will not mount!
Haven’t found any great info so far searching online…
Does anyone have a tip on mounting the HVX200 and latest i5 iMacs?The new Firewire 800 port doesn’t seem to recognize my camera at all. I always get a “1394 disconnected”. Using a standard Firewire 400 cable on my friends older Mackbook Pro and this thing gets mounted instantly!
Please note, all the latest P2 drivers are installed on my machine.
What can I do to fix this? -

USB works but only for mounting the P2 cards.
It will not let me Log and Transfer via the Mini DV Deck using FCP.
I will also need to stream live from an event. USB doesn’t support this.
Any other suggestions? -
You use Log and Capture to capture from Mini DV. That is by FW only. The manual shows you the settings to set.

This is what I’m saying. It works on older machines with Firewire 400 and not on the latest iMacs using Firewire 800. Anyone else can help me out with this?

Do you have other FW devices daisy chained or connected? If you do, that’s what causing the problem.
If you are up to it, Other World Computing has a solution. You can add an eSata port to the iMac. You have to send them your system.

The Firewire cable is fed directly to the camera (not daisy chained or linked otherwise). I don’t understand what’s happening here. Hope someone else is having the same issues with their new iMac and can find a solution for this…

After 3 days of trouble shooting, several cable hardware and cable tests. The Firewire port was inoperative on this new machine. Got a new one and back at editing flawlessly now. Thx for all the input.
