HVX200 Greenscreeen experience?
Posted by Bj Ahlen on March 15, 2006 at 8:11 amHas anyone tested how well HVX200 footage keys when shot in a properly lit studio environment?
I’m looking for commercial pro user experience with this specific camera.

Has anyone tested how well HVX200 footage keys when shot in a properly lit studio environment?”I have had my 200 for a little over a month and done about 5 greenscreen shoots. I use a Chromaflex system and get good results. I got the 200 to replace my Sony DSR-250 DVCAM machine and the 200 keys a lot better. I like to use Motion2 with key software called DV Matte Blast by DV Garage. It works really well.
The 200 produces a better picture with better edges than DVCAM for sure.Overall I like the camera a lot but they should have put louvered doors for a lens cap like Sony did with their HDV camera instead of sticking us with a barn door to carry around. It won’t even fit in your pocket…

March 15, 2006 at 4:06 pmI have lots of green screen shot with both the HVX-200 and the Varicam, and they both key very well. I have no problems whatsoever.

March 15, 2006 at 4:27 pmIMO do your own greenscreen test .. Hvx greenscreen maybe good on some types of projects BUT for some the hor/vert pixel shift could cause some problems with certain type projects & keying software .. to make sure it works for YOU – test it

March 15, 2006 at 5:40 pmThanks for the feedback, everybody!
I don’t like to use a camera I’m not intimately familiar with anyway, but it’s enough work to set up a competent test that I wanted to hear what other people have found first.
