HVX200 footage from FCP to DVD?
hi there,
i shot some footage using the HVX200, and edited it using final cut pro 5. my sequence settings are HD (960×720) (16:9) (i.e., letterboxed).
i am now trying to burn a high-quality DVD of this movie, intended for viewing in North America. could anyone please tell me what settings to use to (1) export the movie from FCP and (2) burn a DVD in DVD Studio Pro? i want the quality to be as high as possible.

Export from FCP a QUICKTIME MOVIE. Self contained or not…doesn’t matter. Sequence settings…yes.
Open Compressor. Drag the exported movie into Compressor. CHoose HIGH QUALITY then the time appropriate for you video, like 90MIN, 60MIN…what have you. This is a 2pass VBR. AIFF, DOLBY…up to you. I use DOlby. Then hit submit.
Import the result into DVD Studio Pro and author the DVD.

thanks very much for your response. could you please be a bit more specific, though? what settings should i use when exporting my project as a quicktime movie (compression type, compression quality, encoding, data rate, optimization, etc.)?

Shane told you as specific as he could. When you export as QuickTime Movie, you will keep your sequence settings.
It is up to you to decide your compression rate in Compressor based on the length of your video.

None of that. You are NOT to export as a QuickTime CONVERSION…no no. QUICKTIME MOVIE…the first option. Then you just make sure that you are using the sequence settings, and either make it self contained, or leave that unchecked which makes a reference movie (a smaller files that points to the original media on the Scratch drive) and use that. There are no compression type, quality, encoding crap in that option. And if you do Quicktime Conversion…you are adding compression so AVOID THAT.
Compressor is where the real compression happens.

Double Click on it. It is in the Applications folder.
Time to crack open the manual and look there for the step-by-step.
