HVX200 and Macbook Pro solutions?
I’ve got a shoot coming up of a behind the scenes for a concert, in a really neat hall. I’d like to shoot HD on the P2. Also, I’m about to plop down some cash, and get a Macbook Pro. Problem is, the PC port has changed, and the P2 cannot be inserted into the laptop, anymore.
Do you know of any solutions that are currently available for the Macbook Pro, at this time? Any USB/Firewire attachments? I’d prefer not renting a deck, or constantly putting the camera out of commission by transferring via firewire through the camera to the notebook.
The director has already been generous in various things I have asked for; don’t really want to incur any more rentals that would cost hundreds of dollars a day. But, if there’s a semi-affordable solution ($100-$200), I may consider buying this.
Of course, I suppose another solution would be to bring one of my really old black Powerbook G3s (500Mhz!), and insert the cards into that, with a firewire drive to offload to. But I’m specifically hoping for working with the Macbook Pro.

Nothing yet. Announcements of future products, but no existing PCMCIA Cardbus card adapter option
for the MacBook.

You’d either have to get your hands on a P2 card reader (meant specifically for the P2) or a P2 Store (rent if you can).
