    Hello All,
I have the “good fortune” of having to shoot a Bar Mitzvah this weekend for a friend. They want to edit the raw and have requested that I shoot on tape. I have never shot tape on this camera before so I am unsure as to what the optimum settings would be for an inside, natural and 3200k lighting situation. As you can imagine, there does not seem to be much info out there on this.
    Thanks for the help!

    Thank you!

That camera shoots SD on tape.
    480i.
White balance accordingly as you would shooting to card or anything.

    Hey Chris,
Thanks for getting back to me. I am more curious to know things such as which film vs. video setting, gamma/scene file to choose, fps and shutter, etc/ If this were just a news camera, I’d be shooting the standard at 30fps with the shutter at 1/60.
Can you help with that too?
    Thanks, again!

P.S. Ah, Atlanta. I spent a few years in Macon and many days and nights in and around Atlanta as well. Great city!

    Thank you!

Keep it simple. Shoot 480i60 in Video Mode.

Thank you, Steve. That’s what I think too but since there are so many other options such as gamma settings etc. I thought I’d look into those. Unfortunately I just don’t have the time to do any tests first.
    Question though: why choose 60i?
    Thanks again!

Because if you shot 30p or 24p, you’d notice a lot of strobing in your video. If you have a stable support, you are fine with that setting.

Thank you, Steve. One last question: since I shot in 4:3, in FCP should I just use the DV codec for my sequence setting?

    Thank you!

Yes. You won’t gain anything by using any other codec other than DV/NTSC.
