    Good to all,
I am shooting a featre in Januaray, am trying to get an HVX-200 to do it on. My question is I have toshiba 3ghz laptop, can I download the P2 cards to the laptop, then transfer to a hard drive to edit on my FCP 5 system later? I may use the internal 80 gig drive to transfer files to in the field, or I may connect a firewire drive to the laptop and transfer files from P2 to the external 1394 drive.

Which Hard Drive format would work best for this cross platform approach. I probably can not afford a Mac laptop and a new camera package. ?Sugestions? please?

    Thanks,
    Anthony

    Yes you can do that.

I used the HVX and offloaded the cards onto my Dell laptop’s internal hard disk. The editor who cut the footage for DV Expo was using a Mac. We transferred the files off my laptop and onto an external firewire hard disk, and he edited from there.

Use FAT32, not NTFS, as (last I checked) Macs have an easier time reading FAT32.

Get the most from your DVX camera. The DVX Book and DVX DVD are now available at https://www.dvxuser.com/articles/dvxbook/ and at Amazon (https://www.fiftv.com/db)
