I’ve seen and read some posts regarding the poor low-light capabilities of the HVX 200 here on the Cow. We actually have the 200p and are getting a lot of noise in our shots. I’m set up with simple factory defaults of the camera but am looking to tweek the settings to get better low-light output with less noise for our next shoot. We are actually renting a 200a for our next shoot to be used as a 2nd camera along side our 200p. I hear, from the forums of course, that the 200a has better low-light image quality.

Our plan is to shoot on a black back drop and light from one side of the face to create a soft, dramatic look to the interviews. Similar to what HBO did with the Band of Brothers series.

How can I achieve this with the HVX 200p? Will any of the factory scene files work? Can anyone give me some settings? I’m by no means a camera operator but am learning how to set this stuff up. This is not for broadcast but still needs to look nice.

    Comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks
