HVX-200 Firmware Upgrades?
This is something that I just thought of after finding out that my DVD burners have yet another new firmware upgrade available. Will it be possible to upgrade the firmware of the HVX-200 from either a file or set of files placed on a P2 card, or connecting the camera to a computer, or by some other means? Will there even be firmware releases to fix “bugs” or improve performance?

Would one not hope that such upgrades would be available over the net and transferrable to the camera via UBS?
Or am I madly optimistic?

If there is a problem with the camera Panasonic can upgrade the camera on the Panasonic Bench. I have seen the best camera guys have to do a firmware upgrade proceedure twice because they didn’t do it correctly, I cannot see that Panasonic would make that customer process. But if there is a problem with the camera it can be upgraded.
However if the question is, in a few years we come out with the HVX200A, can this camera be upgraded? That is a little more uncertain as we cannot know what the changes would be. As an example, the first upgrade to the Varicam it was possible to change the 27V to a 27F all it took was $5000. (Keep in mind it is a very expensive camera and I believe one or two of the mother boards had to be swapped out) Now we are delivering the 27H, this is not an upgrade that is even possible. So it really depends.
