I’m a Post Super at a facility that works primarily in Avid. A project has come along needing mixed frame rate and resolution so we’re doing it in our Final Cut bay. My Final Cut experience is limited.

    We’re doing a 3-camera shoot (36 episodes) with Panasonic HVX-200’s shooting 720p 24p 59.94. So far so good.

The editor, who primarily works in Avid, doesn’t think the 3 cameras need to be feed external TC. He thinks he can just use the clapper to sync up the three and work like that.
I’m advocating, strongly, the use of a TC Generator and jam syncing the cameras.

I’ve found Steve Martin’s great explanation of Multicam editing in Final Cut Pro but I’m looking for some opinions from folks that have tried it both ways.

    Two questions….

    1. Can you feed external TC to a HVX-200? I don’t have a manual but after casual examination I can’t find a BNC input for external code.

    2. Should I press the issue and insist on Jam Syncing or let him do what he wants and let the issue slide?

Thanks for your input. I appreciate it.
