I’ve read of others having this problem in Final Cut but I can’t find a solution anywhere. I capture from an HV30, to the HDV1080i60 codec, and FCP isn’t splitting up the clips on start/stop. My user prefs are set to create new clip on timecode break, and the box to split clips on start/stop in the capture window is checked. It doesn’t matter is I have the camera in HDV 1080i, 30P, or 24P mode, it still just captures one big chunck. However, if I record something then rewind the tape and record a new shot over part of what I already shot it will create a new clip when the tape rolls from the newest shot to the old shot that is still on the tape. Any ideas?

Hey there, I’m having the exact same issue but have an interesting bit of info which may help both of us (hopefully):
I upgraded from the HV20 to the HV30 and this was my workflow with the HV20:

    Shoot 24P HDV
Capture in AIC (The clips were split automatically)
when I was done editing I’d Media Manage the project and then run all the resulting clip files through a custom Compressor setting to remove the pulldown.

This workflow resulted in 23.98 sequences every time. It was great. And then I upgraded.

Now I try the same thing but you already know the results (the clips will not split automatically)

Now here’s the weird part: I captured some footage shot on the Hv20 using the HV30 as a deck and the clips were split as usual. This leads me to conclude that the HV30 writes the TC code differently (more reliably?) than the HV20 and now we have the problem of the clips not splitting for each shot.

I’m wondering if this even matters? what if the HV30’s more reliable TC means the i-frame is consistent throughout the shots (through cuts) and the whole thing can be media managed and reversed telecined as before, without needing to split the clips?
