    Hello all,
I have had this problem for years and now it’s getting in my way big time. Whenever I try to render a qt using the Broadband-High preset on a seq. which contains a nested seq. The file size is 10 times what it should be. I do mostly 30 sec TV spots which render out to about 2.5mb normally. If I build the spot with a nested seq. it renders out to something aroung 28mb. Why? Do I need to pre-render the nested bits? This would not be the best workaround. Every frame counts in 30 sec format, so I do tons of tiny tweaks right up till the last minute.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You should export first to a QT reference file before using Compressor to output your compressed files rather than using Compressor right off the timeline. Compressor off the timeline takes an inordinate of time because it uses “segmented” variable rate compression, with which it essentially computes separate compression schemes for each segment on the timeline. Nests are particularly time consuming because it requires multiple computations referenceing back to shots on the original timeline.
