  Huge file sizes

  Indesign CS6 Ver. 8.0.0.370, 24″ Mac 10.7.5. I know it’s old
  I have a problem with huge file sizes. Insane. I recently did a simple business card with a 4-color piece of art from Photoshop, 300 dpi. approx. 1 inch by 4 inches. The rest of the card is one color. The file size is over 1 gig! Ditto for a simple letterhead.
  If I am editing an old file, no problem. It generally only happens with a newly created doc. Another example. When I open a doc. that I finished a few years ago to make edits (a 174 page, book, 4-color, full size 300 dpi photos every other page) the file size is still only 560 meg.
  I’ve reloaded Indesign from scratch several times, no help.
  Ideas?
