I have the chance to purchase a Demo HPX500 without lens for about 10k.

I have a great Cannon lens on my Sony DXC35wsl. The question is would it work on the HPX500 until I can afford the CAC lens. The Sony is a 2/3 wide screen chip as is the HPX500.

I understand that it is not CAC certified so there might be some fringing on the bright dark transitions. But would there be other flaws? Or would the fringing be so obvious as to make the lens worthless on the HPX500.

Well you’ve already got the lens and you’re getting the body. Worse that can happen is you get some CA and you wind up having to buy a better lens. I’ll bet you’ll be fine as long as the mount is the same.

Understand that an HPX500 is no more subject to CA than any other camera is. If the lens you’re talking about produces clean imagery with no CA already, then it’ll produce clean imagery with no CA on an HPX500.
