HPX3000 Settings
Hi,
thanks again for all your help in selecting a camera. I pulled the trigger on a HPX3000. Now for the question. I am a newbie, for this camera, which is the best record settings? I am using a firestore so it is going to have to be DVCpro HD but should I do 60i, 30p etc. Most of my stuff will be downcoverted to DVD or aired on broadcast.
If there are any other tips with this cam, it would be greatly appreciated.

Dump the firestore, get yourself 3 or so 32GB E series cards and shoot AVC-I.
Then don’t look back.

Joe your question is infinitely deep, we have spent 9 months with the 3000 tweaking, testing and setting up. There is no simple answer, I would highly reccomend you attend Varicamp or Panasonic HD class in Rockport.
But to start as jeremy said if you can dump the firestore and get P2 cards.

Thanks for the insight… My only concern is I have 5 firestores and I love working in native quicktime. (DTE and Drop and Drag). Is AVCIntra that much better? I also record 3 hr training presentation
Emre, Do you like your 3000? I was torn between the 3000 and the 2700. thanks for the advice

We have both the 2700 and 3000. We enjoy both cameras and use them depending on the project requirements.
If you are filming 3 hour presentations you can record 720P 24PN at DVCPROHD with 5 slots (32GB cards each) for 7.5 hours without stopping or swapping cards. 2700 only
AVC-I provides double the recording time over DVCPROHD with no loss. The 3000 is 1080 only so your options are a little more limited.
If I understand your needs correctly, the 2700 would have been a better choice for you.
