Just got my new HPX2100E P2 HD camera delivered. Unfortunately there are dead pixels on the CCD – The salesmen say that this is very common. Someone here knows how to kill the dead pixels ?

Sure- send them back to Panasonic. Dead pixels new out of the box is supposed to be a warranty fix if I’m not mistaken.

I just found a dead pixel on my HPX2000, I am getting in contact with the panny tech guy, and supposedly there is a way to “hide” the pixel through some secret menu. The black balance thing was just a sony thing, i think. I know some cmeras you would do a black balance, and it would turn the pixel black, insted of white, and therefore less noticible.

I’ll post more when i get the secret menu information. Would hate to have to send it all the way back to panny for it, but it is under warranty.

I have a 3 week old HPX-3000 with a dead pixel. We’re in the middle of a job and need some help fast. Can you offer any guidance?

Sorry I never posted back!!! I was mistaken, the black balance thing did it. I think it just hid it, maybe some sort of voodoo between the pixels around it, in really noisy low light footage, there is a different pattern to the noise at that spot. I would still like to know the “secret agent” way of doing it.

Another update, looks like our dead pixel came back again. 3 people saw it, we were looking at the monitor, we all turned away and when we looked back, bam, there it was.

    Carp.

Trying to get a hold of panny techs, our reseller isn’t moving very fast right now. Black balance trick isn’t fixing it this time. Anyone find out anything else?
