HP Pavilion System
Is anyone running Avid Xpress Pro 5.x or Media Composer 3.x on any of the newer HP Pavilion computers? I’ve seen some good prices on a system with an AMD Quad-Core Processor, nVidia GE Force 6500 video card, 6GB RAM, and a 500GB hard drive. And another system with a Pentium Dual-Core E5200 processor. I’d like to know if anyone is using anything like this. Thanks,

AMD processors will give you headaches, at least if you belive what you read here and the Avid forum.

A certified HP workstation is under $1000, and A LOT CHEAPER using a mail order company like PC Connection or CDW, etc. Why must people insist on going to “Best Buy”, and “Fryes” to buy professional equipment.
You can even find more powerful, certified AVID computers from HP

look how cheap professional computers are. If you have to add some RAM, a FW card, and a new graphics card to support the Media composer program, it’s nothing after a price like this for a new xw4600.

Thanks for the leads. Looks like there are some bargains out there that can do that job.

Check out HP’s outlet too. The systems are refurbs or cancelled orders, and I believe they come with the same warranty as new systems.
