    Hello,

I use FCP for editing HDV footage. Everything works fine. I usually export my work in a HDV file. But as you know, FCP generates HDV files which are not compliant with PC-based systems.

I need to view my work on a PC. Of course, I can export a new file using cross-platform format. It works. But i would prefer to demux/remux the native streams to make them compatible with PCs.

I succeed in making it with DVD studio pro, which have a demux option. But the workflow is not very easy.

Does somebody have any suggestion ?

    Thanks
    Emmanuel

If you copy over an original media clip you captured, can you play that?

If not then I believe Cineform makes HDV codecs for PC. These should allow you to play HDV on your pc.

    hope this helps

Emmanuel- I want you to try something as a test. Close out of all applications. Find the HDV file on your hard drive. Make sure the file extension is showing (preferences). Select the file and change the extension to .m2t. Will the file play on your PC now? Sometimes the mac/PC thing is solved just by changing the extension.

    Hi,

    No it won’t work.

This is a well-known issue : HDV captured with FCP is not compatible with PC. This is a codec problem. There is third-party solution to patch this issue, but no simple trick to fix that…

The only solution is to demux the streams and remux them. I can do it, but my method is a bit tricky.
