How would you have done this masking task
Hi new to Premiere Pro and editing (8 months experience) I am at UCLA and did a project where I have a woman exiting a front door cool blue evening shot. When she opens the door, I created a mask in the titler and added a drop shadow feather so the warm hallway would seep into the cool front entrance. The section is about 1.5 seconds and I didn’t know how to make the mask transform its shape as the door opens and closes. I ended up making 35 still titles and manually adjusted the masks to fit the door/and pools of light coming from under the door and open door.
Wondered how the experienced PP editor would have handled this situation.

Any time you need to rotoscope, it’s really a job for After Effects. I’d start by using the Roto Brush tool: https://help.adobe.com/en_US/aftereffects/cs/using/WS3bf812c123007fb8513559df126b537c840-8000.html

Hi I’ve never heard of the rotoscope tool, I just used AE for the first time the other day, will give it try. wish I would have known!!!

Roto Brush tool is what you should look for. It’s awesome!

also there is the 4 and 8 point matte effect in pPro which can be keyframed. Also in After Effects key framing a matte.
