    Hi all,

I’m trying to think of the best way to go about creating a mini video of my pregnant lady’s bump getting bigger over time?

I have been filming a sequence of her spinning around a few times each month as her pregnancy develops and want to kind of merge the footage or morph it or similar to show just the belly enlarging over time? if that makes sense?

What would be the best way to do this that you would suggest? Its shot 1080p on a tripod though the lighting is different each time and her position is somewhat close to similar in each footage but not exactly.

    Any help much appreciated

Liquify Effect(Distort>Liquify) may do the trick.

Check the Tutorial on how to use it.

You can animate Distortion Percentage to show the gradual change.

    Hi Vishesh

thanks for the reply, not sure that effect will do what I’m after, I don’t want to fake it by liquefying, I have shot footage over the months so the belly is bigger in each footage. I don’t need to liquify the belly and fake it I need to morph from each footage to the next but with the movement and the spinning I’m just looking for the best technique for getting it to look seamless and a bit more dynamic than a simple edit!

    thanks

Oh sorry Got it now 😀

In this case You might have to Roto out the bumps(To show the increase in size) and blend them using fadein and fadeout in such a way that it will look seamless.

You can manually increase the size(of Rotoscoped layer) to show time lapse.

Yeah roto’ing was the idea I had but was hoping there was a better and less time consuming technique, thanks I will likely go that route unless I discover something else.

Here’s a post in which I describe a morph technique using only AE native plugins:

I’ll suggest the Reshape effect as well. Reshape allows you to define a source and target mask and then push the pixels in the image from the source to the target mask. The interface and feature set for this effect are quite different from most other standard AE effects so I recommend reading the documentation on it.

Primarily getting all of your shots transformed and retimed so that they line up spatially and temporally should get you 80% of the look you’re after.
