    Shot some footage that was too bright. (see link to pic below)

    What sort of correction can you use to make it look better?

    If you mean the guy on the right is too bright, I would use a color curve. The trick is to make the adjustment so that the bright things are darkened, but the darker things are not affected. I do this by taking a screenshot, and then use Photoshop to tell me where on the curve the target luminance is located. I can then set up the appropriate fixed point on the Vegas color curve, and pull the curve above that point down to darken the highlights. I do try to keep the curve as smooth as possible.
