My question is, how WOULD you create the original video look from scratch in SVP 12?

November 25, 2012 at 6:32 amSorry, I would not create an Intro like that with Vegas alone,
for me it would have to be a combination of After Effects and Vegas.Steve Rhoden

November 25, 2012 at 12:14 pmFirst I would download the video from YouTube because it goes by so fast I really can’t see what’s going on. Each title looks like it’s the same black words with the same font and just different translucent colored background. I would create the title once with Sony Titles & Text and then make several copies, one for each background color that is needed. Set the background colors to have some transparency and then use Track Motion to position and animate them on the screen. I didn’t see anything there that Vegas Pro can’t reproduce with a little patience.

November 25, 2012 at 1:12 pmIt seems that they used some “film burns” packages like this one.

November 25, 2012 at 1:34 pmBecause there would not be a need for Motion Graphics/Compositing
software if NLE’s could do the job.
How much complex motion graphics manipulation and in 3D space
can Vegas do? it has its limitation in this field, ive pushed
it to that limit and gotten good results, but going pass that
point, a more powerful image manipulation tool has to be called upon.Steve Rhoden

November 25, 2012 at 2:06 pmThere is a great app called “Stutter Frame” for only $10 that creates not exactly what you want but will make similar effects.

There are many other great apps at this URL for Vegas too.Roger Bansemer

I agree that it would be easier in a program like After Effects that let’s you so see how all of the layers are interacting, but to just throw some random text on the screen, I think Vegas can handle it.
I was reacting to your comment was that somehow Vegas Pro cannot produce “detailed and crisp motion graphics” and that simply isn’t true.

November 25, 2012 at 3:34 pmMaybe John, you are misunderstanding me when i say “detailed and crisp
motion graphics”…..Really im saying High End motion graphics,
and no matter which way you cut it, Vegas cannot do it as a good as
a dedicated motion graphics software.
As i mentioned, i use it to a certain extent, but there is a limit.
You may try using Vegas to do some, but to the trained eye, they will
see the flaws.Steve Rhoden
