00:28- 00:30 there is a green sphere that decays. Could anyone point me to a tutorial or give an insight into how this was done.

    Thanks in advance

More than likely a couple ways to do that, I would just use an arc spline and toss it into a lathe nurbs, then play with the start angle and end angle, then add thickness by tossing that into a cloth nurbs.

it was done by using the Boole Object set to A without B subtracting (probably) a cube from the Sphere

I would say it also is a boole object but there are a number of ways to do it. There is a preset that does this for you pretty easily for $2 https://c4dtools.net/fillex/. There also is an earlier version that was free.

    Thanks for your help everybody.

I achieved a fairly satisfactory result by creating booles and moving a large cube through the middle. I also added ambient occulation.

Will look into the plug in mentioned.

You could use the free Thrausi plugin to shatter the sphere to pieces…
