Ok I’ll try to keep it brief. I created and object in cinema 4D and imported into after effects. Now I would like to at a very strong and hazy glow around it, kinda like its on fire except blue. I would also like to have the glow leave a trail behind it. Just thought of the best way to visualize it, like a comet!

How would I go about doing this, and is this something i should be doing in after effects or should i have handled this in cinema 4D?

Thanks in advance to the COW!

trapcode particular would work fantastic for this. it has built in fade, time to live, pre-comp support, custom layers and full 3-D rendering with thousands of particles. you could add glow or shine to give it that special punch up. ipod nano tutorial would give you an excellent jump start.

Don;t forget you can also add a simple Photoshop glow inside and outside the edges like you can in Photoshop. Select your layer and choose Layer > Layer Styles and then choose both inner and out glow. Teen set the colors and other properties. This won’t leave the trail, but it will give you a nice base for your glow.

thanks for that tidbit, those inner and outer glows really helped me fine tune the look without drastically changing the effect.

    THANK YOU FOR THIS!

For the longest time I only thought the glow option was available in Effects & Presets 🙂
